Introduction
The Certification Programme (CP) is an agreement between the applicant and DASA as to what certification activities must be completed in order for DASA to issue a Military Type Certificate or approval of a major change (including Military Supplemental Type Certificates). Acquisition projects and complex major changes will always require a full CP while a simplified CP may be acceptable for less complex major changes.
A simplified CP may be used in situations when long and complex compliance demonstration activities are not required.
- A complete set of data (description, compliance check-list and compliance demonstration evidence) can be provided at the time of application,
- The applicant has demonstrated experience for the platform and design disciplines involved,
- DASA’s Level of Involvement (LOI) is likely to be minimal, and
- The methods identified for production of compliance demonstration evidence are current and well proven.
A simplified CP may also be appropriate for major changes that will be leveraging a prior certification from a recognised N/MAA and for which there is no, or minimal, difference in Configuration, Role and Environment (CRE).
What We Do
DASA provides agreement to a CP, and will make determinations on whether a simplified CP is appropriate.
How Do I Seek DASA Agreement To A CP
In order to have a CP agreed to by DASA, the applicant should submit a mature draft of the document to their DIA-DASA (TC) Project Certification Manager (PCM) for comments and feedback. The PCM and the applicant will discuss the content of the CP until both parties are satisfied that the certification activities (including DASA Level of Involvement (Lol)) are appropriate and sufficiently detailed for the stage of the project.
The CP must then be signed by the appropriate parties within the applicant’s organisation and submitted to the PCM who will then staff the document for DASA agreement.
For a major change where the applicant believes a simplified CP will be appropriate they are to contact DASA via the Type Certification Mailbox at the beginning of the process to seek agreement to a simplified CP. Proceeding with a simplified CP approach without DASA involvement will result in potential schedule risk of DASA rejecting the simplified approach and requiring a full CP.
