Introduction
Military Design Organisation Approval (MDOA) is awarded to organisations that are eligible and successfully demonstrate to DASA that their design assurance system can safely design products, changes to products or repairs that comply with the applicable type certification basis (TCB). Holding MDOA is one means for an organisation to demonstrate its capability to apply for or hold a Military Type Certificate (MTC), a Military Supplemental Type Certificate (MSTC), or a major repair design approval. MDOA is also awarded as the means to obtain privileges to classify and approve minor changes and repairs.
What We Do
DASA will award MDOA to organisations that apply and can successfully demonstrate their ability to comply with DASR 21 Subpart J. Accompanying the approval will be an associated set of privileges (listed in the terms of approval) allowing the organisation to undertake certain functions without DASA’s direct involvement in the process.
DASA will also conduct an oversight program of all MDOA holders to assure the continuing validity of their approval and privileges.
How Do I Apply?
Applications for MDOA can be made to DASA using DASR Form 80. Applications for significant changes to an MDOA can be made using DASR Form 82.
MDOA holders are required to identify key management personnel and furnish their credentials to DASA, via a DASR Form 4, in order that they may be seen to be appropriate in terms of relevant knowledge and satisfactory experience related to the nature of the design activities as performed by the organisation.
