Introduction
As part of the Defence Aviation Safety Program (DASP), DASA will assure the production of all Defence aircraft, parts and appliances. This enables Certificates of Airworthiness to be issued for Defence registered aircraft, and those certificates to remain valid by the installation of components with release to service documentation acceptable to DASA.
What We Do
Under the DASP, DASA will assure production of aircraft, parts or appliances through one of three mechanisms:
- Recognition of foreign civil and military airworthiness authorities
- Application of the requirements of DASR 21 Subpart F or G
- Fabrication through a maintenance organisation approval
DASA will make determinations about which form of production assurance is appropriate for any given circumstance. The majority of production of aircraft, parts and appliances for use in Defence occurs outside Australia under a recognised airworthiness framework. This negates the need for those production organisations to hold Military Production Organisation Approval (MPOA) under DASR 21 Subpart G, or a letter of agreement under DASR 21 Subpart F.
