1.1 For the majority of Defence aircraft systems, the airworthiness design requirements prescribed in the Authority recognised Airworthiness Codes define the requirements that underpin safe aircraft design. However, there are a number of systems for which these Airworthiness Codes are inadequate for Defence's intended configuration, role and operating environment (CRE).
1.2 Where airworthiness design requirements prescribed in the Authority recognised Airworthiness Codes may be inadequate for Defence's CRE, the Authority has identified supplementation. This section of the DASDRM presents that supplementation.
1.3 Where strict application of an Airworthiness code may affect capability or interoperability, design requirements to reduce these effects are also provided.
1.4 Section 3 of the DASDRM presents the Authority prescribed airworthiness design requirements for the following aircraft systems and technologies:
flight recorder and locating equipment,
surveillance and avoidance systems,
environmental control systems,
air vehicle subsystems (mechanical),
aircraft performance and handling,
aircraft structural integrity,
airborne lasers, and
