For platform related DoSA functions, having the following QTE will be considered as either required or highly desirable depending on the delegation scope.
Bachelor or higher degree qualification in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical and/or Software Engineering. (Qualifications should be Australian accredited or assessed to be equivalent to Australian qualification by Engineers Australia, the Australian Computer Society, or the Australian Institute of Project Management).
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) in the Institute of Engineers Australia (IEAust) or equivalent.
Ten years of aviation experience. At least two out of the 10 years should be experience as staff of DASA, or an organisation holding a Design Organisation Approval under EASA, CASA, EMAR or DASR 21 Section A Subpart J—Military Design Organisation Approval.
Undertaken DASR 21, M and 145 practitioner courses (or equivalent courses) and DASA Type Certification Course.
For a DoSA nominating for a Flight Test function, the following QTE is mandatory:
Bachelor or higher degree qualification within the Science or Engineering field.
Graduate of an Experimental Flight Test course (long course). A ‘long course’ requires a graduate from a minimum 10 month course by any of the following established Test Pilot schools:
Empire Test Pilot School.
U.S. Navy Test Pilot School.
U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School.
French Test Pilot School (EPNER).
National Test Pilot School.
International Test Pilot School (ITPS).
Indian Air Force Test Pilot School.
Attained B-category Flight Test Aircrew or higher.
Ten years of aviation experience, with at least five years of experience in categorised Flight Test.
For a DoSA nominating for a Flight Test function, the following additional QTE is desirable:
Full member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots or the Society of Flight Test Engineers.
At least three years of experience in Capability Development.
DASR 21 and Type Certification Practitioner Courses.
